Gene Autry [Gene Autry]
(1907–98) a US actor and singer in ↑western films in the 1930s and 1940s. He was known as the ‘singing cowboy’ and made more than 90 films. His horse was called Champion. Autry also had a popular radio programme. His best-known songs included Tumblin’ Tumbleweeds (1935) and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1950).
